Portage Lake State Park (Waterloo)
It was the MSU v UofM football game weekend as well as another fall camping weekend. Robin and I were looking for some place to go and a couple parks were already booked as they were having fall harvest weekends. Portage Lake State Park though, was having their 4th annual in-state big game weekend. Events included egg toss, tug of war, site decorating, pet dress up and of course the game at the host camp site with projector/screen.Arriving to a lot of rain on Friday, camp setup was pretty wet and miserable. Around 7pm though, the rain stopped and we were able to get off from under the canopy and get a fire going. Saturday, though chilly/windy, had moments of bright sun and some nice tree color.
During the game, when a team scored, a truck of fans would drive around the campground honking, screaming and flag wearing. Horns and car alarms would honk back in support. At the end of the game, a final victory lap for MSU...and a loss bet for a UofM fan...run around the entire park waving a MSU flag.

Dusty and I went camping last weekend and the weather was fantastic. It was my first time staying at Port Crescent State Park and was able to get a nice site next to the beach. There were numerous hiking trails as well as a pretty large day use area about 2 miles up the road. Took my bike so I was able to do a little riding. Did just under 3 miles Friday night; seems the new tires are working just fine. On Saturday, went just over 7 miles and added in 1.5 miles of hiking. The water in Lake Huron wasn't all that bad either. Waded in just past my knees. All in all, a very nice weekend.
Did a little golfing last weekend up near Grayling. Couldn't ask for better weather or a bunch of fuckwads to golf with (John, Andy and Phil). Phil shot his best round ever, 83 I think, so he is forever known as "The Fuckwad". Had some fun with the locals; drank a few beers; lost money at Club Keno and Pull Tabs.
Mom and I went to see the Lions game back on September 14th vs Green Bay. More than anything, going to see the Lions is an excuse to drink with the neighbors, tailgate, etc. We had fantastic weather during the tailgate but after the game we got hammered with rain from the passing of hurricane remnants. And speaking of hammered, so where my neighbors! Don't think mom was enjoying the bus ride home.
I haven't posted in many moons; but I wanted to thank everyone who supported the 2008 MHS Soccer Golf Outing. The teams were very appreciative of the donations. To the left is a photo of the hole sponsorship for dad.
